The Big Scary Credit Monster

Credit.... the very concept scares some people and their are plenty out in the world abusing its power. In fact it seems like the world itself is run on credit. 

It has been just over 6 months since my recent graduation from Howard University. How did i know??? Because ole Sallie Mae has pushed her way back into my life asking for the money I had borrowed from to fund my degree.

The other day i actually made my first of many payments to ole Sallie. I tweeted about how it stung a little to see the funds exit my account and one of my friends promptly responded how such action of actually paying my loans back made me a better man.

I came across this live performance of neo-soul artist Anthony David doing a cover of the popular Drake song. I must say the vocals of David added a grittiness to the song that i enjoyed. Check it out!!!

I Am "A" Father

I was watching the move Life the other night, you know the one with Martin and Eddie getting life sentences down in Mississippi. I’m sure there aren’t many who won’t find it to be a comedy classic of the late 90’s.

A scene struck me in a way it hadn’t before as i was enjoying the film. The one i’m talking about is where the warden of the prison camp is trying to determine which one of the prisoners is the father of his white daughters black baby. Take out the time period references and it almost sounds like a situation you would see on the Maury Povich show.




As you see by the clip from the movie in the scene the prisoners, who all happen to be black men, each step up and proclaim that the child is theirs. What struck me

Quality over Quantity

Words i’ve received from my father over a variety of subjects. A selection of good words he has passed down to me along the same lines goes like this “don’t chase the money, make it chase you”.

Now i wouldn’t mind if money came out of this, lets be honest, or if it somebody reads a post and decides i need to be a commentator on CNN but that is not my purpose here. My purpose for writing and sharing on this new media site (this will be much deeper than just a blog) is to provoke thought, discuss ideas and essentially be a forum that gives opinion and analysis of all sides to the situations we see pop up in life. Giving special concern to those ignored by mainstream media because of their own beliefs or because it won’t produce a profit.

J-Walking will also be a place for music and videos, once again with special concern given to those we won't see getting much attention from radio, BET, MTV etc. You know what i'm talking about, real music lol.

I can’t promise that there will be a new post every day, I’m looking to update at least once a week, like i do with my podcast Da90zPulse, which is by the way a great source for 90’s music if your a fan <-- http://jclark787.podomatic.com (sorry shameless plug). What I can promise is that i will produce when inspired and won’t short change you on the quality of the pieces. I will do my best!
